PAINT NITE®, Borscht & Grown to Go Mobile Market

Paint Nite® at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery is so much fun - you really must come join us! We're painting "Fireflies" on Friday, July 15th, and we encourage you to come dressed as a pirate in honor of Lickinghole's "Pirate Day" the following day (they're releasing their rum-barreled Coconut Delight on Saturday, July 16th). We will be guided by a recent resident of Richmond, Allison Heineman, who has an Associates Degree in Fine Arts. Grab your friends and spend two hours drinking, laughing, and flexing your creative muscles. There’s no experience necessary and we’ll provide all the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about a thing (except having a great time!). Must be 21+. Food and drink may be purchased at the event.  The food provider for July 15th is Northern Neck Oysters, so come hungry.  You must have a ticket for this event.  Click here for info, but be sure to use this Groupon link for a huge discount!

New market starting
July 10th!
Starting July 10th, we will be hosting a mobile market every Sunday from 1:00-2:30pm at the Fife Fire Station in Western Goochland.  The Grown to Go Mobile Market is a project of the RVA Food Collaborative and Shalom Farms, Grown to Go serves Central Virginia by selling fresh, organic, and local produce to community members who have limited access to healthy food. SNAP is welcomed and discount prices are offered at all of our market locations. Take a look at our schedule and map to find other Grown to Go mobile market sites near you.  We are excited to add this mobile market to serve the residents of Western Goochland, which is one of the largest food deserts in the state!

We have lots of new food entrepreneurs using our commissary kitchen, which is a certified kitchen that is for rent by-the-hour. Make sure to visit the Cook 'N Nook website or our Facebook page to keep up with the latest news, or email the Kitchen Manager. Do you know someone who has a food truck and needs a commissary kitchen, or who has dreamed of marketing a homemade product all their lives? Give us a call...we can help turn your dreams into reality!

Summer is in full swing, and our markets are entering their abundant, busy season.  It's gratifying to see so many new shoppers attending both markets, and so many returning customers bringing new friends! I'm extremely pleased to announce the Grown to Go Mobile Market starting in July that will be bringing local food, sourced from our own market vendors, to the residents of Western Goochland.  The Department of Social Services is working with us to help our low-income residents learn of this wonderful opportunity to access healthy local food after church each Sunday through mid-October.  We are still looking for funding for this project to help pay for our driver, diesel for the truck, advertising and administrative expenses.  If you are interested in donating specifically for this project, use our Donate Now button and write in "Grown to Go" on your donation.  We are a 501(c)(3) and your donation is fully tax deductible as allowed by law.  Thank you for your support!

See you at the market, or in the kitchen!
