MAKE MANAKIN MARKET HAPPEN CAMPAIGN
Take a moment to reflect on what our farmers market means to you.  Do you enjoy fresh local food?  Are you a fan of our great musicians and special events? Have your children or grandchildren taken advantage of our free weekly kid's activities?  Did you like our Discover You Can food preservation programs last year and our chef's demos? What if all of this just disappeared?  PLEASE DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN!  We need your donations to help us keep these great programs going! We operate with no county, state or federal funding and rely solely on vendors fees, sponsorships and fundraising efforts to pay for operations, staffing and to keep these great programs going!  Please be generous!  We're counting on you!

DESPOT DAY AT LICKINGHOLE CREEK CRAFT BREWERY
Hug the Despot and
Awaken the Despot
Variant Releases will
also be available in
limited quantities
Big Release Coming on March 7th!  Have you read the reviews?  In the June 2014 edition of Beer Advocate, the Bros rated the Enlightened Despot a 94 saying, “The beer geeks love their Imperial Stouts, and a small handful garner enough hype to draw massive crowds around their release. This one is just as deserving as the next. A sweet malt bomb with roasted grain and alcohol is not all that is going on here; there’s also layers of chocolate and coffee met by alcohol warmth. Something to savor.” Their last Despot Day release in 2014 drew over 3,000 people, so make sure to come early to claim yours!  Limit one case per customer. Saturday, March 7th, 12 pm - 7 pm Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery, 4100 Knolls Point Dr. Goochland, VA 23063.  Live Music by Barrelhouse and Vexine, Free Kids Activities and Food Trucks.  For more information, visit Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery's webpage or Facebook event page.

We are adding additional staff this year!  Courtney Guido will be joining us at the market this season to help as Market Coordinator and will be in our Manager-In-Training program.  Courtney is a familiar face at the market, along with her husband Brian "Cricket" Rakita, and is a long-time sustainable agriculture farmer and farming enthusiast.  She will be assisting Lisa with vendor recruitment, program coordination and will be manning the RVAg, Inc. booth at the market with last year's assistant, Erin Matthews, when Lisa isn't there.  RVAgriculture, Inc., the new non-profit "wing" of ChiknEGG Productions, LLC, has taken over management of My Manakin Market, effective immediately.

10 more weeks until Market Season starts again!  Can you believe it?  Many, many things to accomplish before we kick-off the season.  Where does the time go?  I'm very excited that I'll have a Manager-in-Training this year.  Courtney is extremely passionate and I'm sure she'll be a tremendous asset to our market.  Wish I could do a brain dump!

Our Go Fund Me Campaign to Make Manakin Market Happen kicked off this week.  We have already received many generous donations.  Thank you to all who have contributed so far!  Please read the story on the site and help us make it go viral!

I'm happy to be working with a dynamic group of farmers market managers in Central Virginia who are working under the guise of our newly formed Virginia Farmers Market Manager Association.  We are meeting monthly at FeedMore with the Capital Region Food Collaborative, and have really made a lot of headway towards funding a collaborative advertising effort. I'm looking forward to seeing the great ideas come to fruition in the form of widespread outreach to bring in both new and returning customers to Central Virginia's many fine farmers markets, including ours.  So great to be able to meet with my fellow market managers to share and learn from each other!
