Our Mission:  We are committed to providing a venue for local farmers and artisans to offer their products direct to consumers.  We understand the need for consumer education and are driven to provide cutting edge instruction on the traditional self-sufficiency skills that have sustained our agricultural heritage.

ChiknEGG Productions works primarily with organizations and schools to plug them into our local food system and teach them to be more self-sufficient.  The organization operates a large-scale farmers market located in Eastern Goochland County, just a few minutes West of Richmond's Short Pump in Virginia.  The market runs outdoors on Saturdays, May-October, and operates on a smaller scale indoors throughout the winter months. ChiknEGG has worked with numerous schools, non-profits, community groups, church groups and even county governments to provide specialty ag-themed events.  ChiknEGG partners with many other professionals in the local foods industry to set up and orchestrate movie screenings, ag-related presentations for schools, workshops, conferences, and even consulting related to setting up a new farmers market.  Consider using ChiknEGG to plan your next ag-themed special event!  Email us today!

ChiknEGG Productions is registered with the SCC, and is fully licensed to do business both in Goochland County as well as the Commonwealth of Virginia. We have a local CPA hired for scrutiny of our accounting system.

About Lisa Dearden: Lisa had a 20+ year career in sales, management, marketing and training before one too many car accidents left her nearly disabled. While in recovery, Lisa and her husband moved to Goochland County where they purchased a mini-farm. The farm had about 25 fruit trees and some established raised beds. Following her interest in that land, she pursued her degree in Horticulture with a focus on sustainable agriculture and became very involved in the local foods movement.

Combining her previous corporate career with horticulture and sustainable agriculture, Lisa ran an ag-centered non-profit for several years before founding ChiknEGG Productions.  Over the years, she has established relationships with farmers, educators, advocates and foodies all over the state (and beyond).  She serves on the board of the Virginia Farmers Direct Marketing Association, the Goochland Chamber of Commerce, is on the Steering Committee for the newly formed VDACS Farmers Market Manager Association, and is a member of the Virginia Association of Biological Farming. She is also a Certified Permaculture Design Instructor, and has been a Master Gardener since 2004. She has served as a spokes-model for Alcoa in several DVD's on composting, and is actively involved in our state's Farm2School program.

Lisa and her husband, James, raise much of their own food including vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs, which they grow using sustainable principles. Their farm includes a flock of heritage breed chickens, two dairy goats, rabbits and eight alpacas.

As owner and manager of ChiknEGG Productions, Lisa intends to carry on in her passion for educating folks about the benefits of Sustainable Agriculture & FOOD - growing, selling, cooking, preserving, eating & celebrating local food and our food system!
