My Manakin Market - August 27th, 2011
Come rain, wind, sunshine, earthquake or hurricane - we will be open for business! Well, if the hurricane decides to hurry up and move in earlier in the day on Saturday, we may end up having to cancel the market, but
as of right now - we are planning to be open! This week, we still have fresh corn on the cob, butter beans, green beans, heritage melons and cantaloupes, beets, peppers (including specialty varieties), tomatillas, cucumbers, tomatoes (slicing, cherries, Romas & CANNING tomatoes), zucchini, a variety of summer squashes, sweet potatoes, cabbage, potatoes, spring onions, leaks, eggplant, watermelons, fresh herbs and a few peaches. We have a great selection of meats, including
grass-fed beef,
pastured pork, lamb and poultry. We’ll have cheese this week from
Night Sky Farm- come and try a sample! Our selection of baked goods includes breads, muffins, specialty cookie, focaccia,
pies, quiches and even pizza crusts! We also have honey,
candy,
homemade spices, nuts, jams, jellies, local wines, and lots of other delicious Virginia Grown items available at My Manakin Market!
What makes us unique? We are
PRODUCER ONLY and support sustainably raised produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and true artisan crafts! Check out
What's In Season now! Come early for best selection!
Manakin Market has some wonderful artisan crafters, so make sure to keep your eyes open for great gifts throughout the season – look for handmade clothing,
jewelry,
hand-carved wooden objects, wreaths,
bedspreads,
fiber products,
soaps, bath bombs & lotions,
pottery, knitted/crocheted items and more. And don’t forget to check out
ChiknEGG’s Systern Rain Barrels and Earth Machine Composters! Pricing on the Rain Barrels and Composters are going UP in September. Why not pick up one Saturday - save money while you save water and reduce landfill waist all at the same time! We have some beautiful cut flowers and plants for sale, too, so make sure to take home a bouquet to brighten up your home or office!
MUSIC AT THE MARKET
Mystery musician to play at My Manakin Market this Saturday! Will it be you? We are still looking for a musician or band who is brave enough for Irene!
Email ChiknEGG or call: 804-314-9141. Here are the
Performance Guidelines for Artists. Hours for performing are 9:00am-Noon.

Kid's - come and see what critters Christopher and Annabelle, our Local Agrarian Critter Corner farmers in training, will have at the market for you to pet and visit with! Christoper and Annabelle will be happy to show you their farm critters and share their knowledge with young and old(er) market shoppers! They have a few things for sale that they have made themselves and are donating a portion of their proceeds to charity animal rescue groups! We are very proud of these young, forward-thinking agrarians!
We are open for business every Saturday from 8:00am - Noon, May through October. With 50+ vendors (
view our Complete List of Vendors), My Manakin Market promises to bring the highest quality Virginia Grown products to Central Virginia!
Check out our cool interactive
Market Map to find your favorite vendor(s), or launch a
Product Search to find your favorite products!
We have live music every week, cooking demonstrations, chef's demos and lots of other fun activities for the whole family. ChiknEGG’s intern,
Michele Wright (aka
The Local Agrarian) will be cooking up some yummy treats this week and you're welcome to come by her booth and watch, ask and learn! Michele coordinates the market’s musical entertainment, chef’s demos and does cooking demonstrations every other week. Visit her tent to see what’s cookin’!
We're also offering wine tastings from two of our local wineries,
Grayhaven Winery and
WindSong Winery. Come grab a glass of Sangria or wine and hang-out in the wine corral with some delicious locally sourced prepared foods from Kota's Kabobs or
The Local Agrarian.
Rain Policy: The market will be open unless we have thunder storms. If in doubt, check
ChiknEGG’s website or call 804-314-9141 for a recorded message.
We are located at 68 Broad Street Road in Manakin-Sabot, just 5 minutes west of downtown Short Pump. For more information and a Google Map,
